This weekend my eight year old daughter took me to a place called Ellie Magpie in Prestwich where we made lovely Christmas bunting out of felt shaped like stockings, ribbon and cute little pegs.
We were shown how to do blanket stitches which Freya mastered in no time. When I first got there I thought it was going to be too difficult for Freya and was thinking that I’d end up having to do all the sewing but luckily that wasn’t the case.
At home Tim and and Rory had their own crafty afternoon painting wooden decorations that Tim had bought on eBay. Just goes to show you don’t always need to pay for art and craft sessions but it was a nice treat and lovely to have one on one time with Freya.
Ellie Magpie’s is just on Bury New Road and the workshops take place above a lovely shop filled with beautiful home made items such as cushions, Christmas decorations and up cycled furniture.
It was a great little find by Freya and Tim and I’m already looking at other courses I can book for next year. I’d love to try the watercolour class perhaps next time….
