Christmas fun at Stockeld Park, Wetherby

In the run up to Christmas this year we decided to try a few new traditions with some of the old ones mixed in for good measure… Much as we loved Lapland UK last year we didn’t want to spoil our memories by going back and it not being quite as good.

This year we visited Stockeld Park in Wetherby which was a bit of a trek to get to but well worth a visit.  We enjoyed the woodlands walk and it has handy stopping areas with wooden climbing frames to keep your little ones entertained.  We then found the zip wire which was great fun especially as the furry mascots were trying to challenge the adults to races. The maze was a great hit too as we really did feel for a few minutes that we were going to have to set up camp and spend our days there.  Thankfully my friend Rachel’s daughter Megan has a great sense of direction and miraculously led us confidently to the exit..

Ice skating was fun although Rory still can’t get to grips with the idea and decided he’d had enough after one lap.  Freya and Tim on the other hand had other ideas and wanted to stay on the rink till closing time.

There’s so much to do at the park throughout the year and it’s beautifully looked after with little fairy doors dotted around and allsorts of lit up creatures on the lake and in the woods.  We took a packed lunch but there is a café there with lots of hot food.
